Trust Imperative – “How Digital Trading Can Revolutionise Client Outcomes But Why Humans Must Stay in Control”

The people in the London Market have tended to bandy about the phrase “digital trading”. But, in general, they have been less clear on what they actually mean by it. How might it lead to the risk transfer process evolving. Who would be in charge, human or machine? What would the life of a digital trader be like. And the lack of this clarity has led some to disengage from what is probably the most important debate of the day.

So LIIBA decided to undertake some research to try and answer these questions.  We worked with our Executive Committee and Board to come up with a premise. And then we held a series of workshops with brokers who have been in the market for fewer than three years. Because if you are going to discuss the market of the future, you should allow the future of the market to have their say. And the one overriding consensus across all those groups was that, however we develop, one thing remains constant: trust.
