LIIBA virtual seminar – Brexit and its Regulatory Impact
Grant Thornton have agreed to host a virtual seminar for LIIBA members on Wednesday 7th October 2020, at 9.15am.
Following what has been a long, and arduous, journey since the EU Referendum of 2016, the Financial Services sector will shortly have to address some “known unkowns”, such as whether a comprehensive trade deal will be put in place before 15 October, and some rather concerning open questions which will need urgent clarity ahead of 1 January 2021, such as:
- What influence, if any, will the UK have over European regulatory changes post-Brexit?
- Will overseas firms and brokers continue to use London as a bridge into European markets if European local authorities mandate that only EU-incorporated entities can access EU clients for regulated transactions?
- How will the FCA and PRA evolve domestic regulation once free from the control of European lawmakers?
These, and many other, issues will drive the upcoming decisions of firms’ Senior Managers, as well as their clients and investors. More than ever, as the bustling streets of the City are quietened by the mass remote working of its population, the overriding question of how London and the UK’s regional financial districts will navigate European Regulation post-Brexit will need to be addressed.
Grant Thornton’s senior Brexit and Regulatory speakers will provide their thoughts on the above, during the live virtual seminar you will have a chance to put forward questions to the experts.
Should you have any questions ahead of the session, please send them to Jo Brady (LIIBA) by Friday 25th September so that Grant Thornton can address them in their remarks: Jo.Brady@liiba.co.uk.
Members are requested to register for the event, please email Jo.Brady@liiba.co.uk providing email addresses for anyone wishing to participate. Dial-in details for the event will be sent to all attendees nearer the date.
