Belonging @ LIIBA

Belonging @ LIIBA

Our mission is to increase diversity and inclusion within the London insurance market. We’ll do this through practical initiatives with our partners to make insurance a first-choice career for people from a wide variety of backgrounds. We want to showcase the breadth of opportunities available by providing the framework for firms of all sizes to make a positive change.

About B@L

Belonging@LIIBA brings together a range of initiatives targeting younger people and those from less advantaged backgrounds by providing them with access to the London insurance market and the professional roles it offers.

The initiatives below are specific to LIIBA and seek to provide opportunities for our member firms of all sizes to become involved and support one or more of these

LIIBA Webinar - Declared Values (helping avoid surprises) with J.S. Held – Tuesday 28th June 3pm to 4pm Getting Declared Values wrong can have serious implications for commercial insurance risks. In this one hour seminar, forensic accountants from J.S.Held’s insurance services practise will help explore how material discrepancies between Declared Values and actual Values-at-Risk can occur and provide some preventative tips. The presentation draws on the speakers’ international claims experience and will include how simple concepts like selling price can be complex, why Gross Profit is commonly underdeclared, and how current economic factors such as commodity price inflation and Covid 19 are making it more challenging than ever to get Declared Values right. This seminar will provide real world examples and will be relevant on a cross-class basis.   If you are a LIIBA member and interested in this webinar, please use the link below to register! lnkd.in/egmnxqWt

A common understanding of what data we need to place and service a risk has been the holy grail of market modernisation for some time. Under Sheila Cameron’s expert leadership, the LMG Data Council is finally getting us there. Here Sheila talks through this not inconsiderable achievement in this excellent podcast. lnkd.in/e-rSM5BR
Data Council - The Power of Collaboration
Having successfully lobbied for the regulators to be given an objective to promote competition and economic growth we thought it would be only reasonable to set out how we envisage them achieving that goal. So we worked with our partners round the LMG table to come up with these metrics for success. This is how we can hold Financial Conduct Authority honest.
